Schneider Electric, founded as Schneider-Creusot 185 years ago in France, today serves worldwide. Its various subsidiaries include Luminous Power Technologies Pvt Ltd., SolveIT Software APC, Areva T&D, Gutor Electronic LLC and many others.
Founders Eugène Schneider and Adolphe Schneider laid the roots of the company as iron, steel, armaments factories and other industrial concerns. Swiftly, the company began growing and became a diversified conglomerate, Schneider Group. Ensuing this, the Group started acquisitions of various kinds.
Eventually, in May 1999, the Schneider Group was renamed Schneider Electric, with an intent to specify their focus in the electrical field.
It did not take much time for the conglomerate to build a diverse portfolio including automation, electric power, IT, plant and many other industrial services.
It was between 2015 -2016 that the company announced sustainability and efficiency as their cornerstone.
Global 100 recognized Schneider Electric as the world’s most sustainable company, in 2021. The company has the goal to plant environmental, social and governance concerns at the center of all their activities. Not only this, but the company also aims to help out their customers and business partners with their sustainability goals.
“The core of our strategy is to build a sustainable business and company. Customers, employees, partners and investors have never been more focused on ESG considerations than they are now. Schneider has long embraced those issues, and we keep raising the bar for ourselves, and for our customers and partners,” says Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Schneider Electric’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “When we introduced our first sustainability barometer in 2005, we were an early adopter of ESG matters. But ESG commitments cannot just be a one-off, and we have reinforced ours every three years. All of us – companies, governments, individuals – can contribute to make the world greener and more inclusive. Our new commitments define the next steps of our contribution.”
With this, the company is committed to keep leading the way and being a solution for a more inclusive and sustainable world.
